On 13 February 2023, Engr. Noel Borlongan presented Space Data Usage and Applications for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) in the Philippines during the 60th Scientific and Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).

Among the various uses and benefits of space data for DRRM include timely disaster response, assessment of earthquake and landslide damage, tagging typhoon-damaged buildings using Disaster Charter Imagery, and assessing flood impacts.

Engr. Borlongan likewise discussed the common satellite data sources in the Philippines and highland the different satellite data and products being mobilized and shared to different stakeholders for several environmental applications, i.e., utilization of images for disaster response and risk assessment, as well as the distribution of these products to various mandated agencies for free.
