The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) participated in the 4th Asian Defense and Security (ADAS), Crisis & Disaster Management Exhibition and Conference. ADAS 2022 is a major expo of the latest security and defense technologies in the region, with local and international exhibitors representing the full spectrum of defense, homeland security, and disaster relief industries. The three-day event was held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on 27 to 29 April 2022.

PhilSA took the opportunity to engage with its stakeholders in the defense sector in line with its Key Development Areas (KDAs) of National Security and Development and Hazard Management and Climate Studies. These include the Department of Defense, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Security Council. Earlier this year, PhilSA and DND signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance national security and development efforts through Space Science and Technology Applications (SSTA). 

The Agency also introduced itself to industry players, in line with its KDA of Space Industry and Capacity Building, with the long-term goal to create a robust and thriving space industry to support the country’s space program through private sector involvement and cooperation. Introductory meetings between PhilSA and several private companies specializing in satellite systems were conducted during the event.

PhilSA was also invited to take part in the Transforming Philippine Security and Defense Symposium held during ADAS 2022. Dr. Marc Caesar Talampas, Director for the Space Technology Missions and Systems Bureau and OIC-Director of the Space Industry and Strategic Business Development Bureau, delivered a presentation on the country’s space program, plans for satellite development, and PhilSA’s capacity building activities for the defense sector.

The Asian Defense and Security (ADAS) Exhibition and Conference is the only tri-service defense and security exhibition that addresses the specific requirements of the Philippine Armed Forces, National Police, and security agencies.
