The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) welcomed the delegation from Singapore’s Office for Space Technology and Industry (OSTIn) for a study visit aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and sharing strategic approaches to space development on 21 July 2025.

The visit centered on in-depth discussions on national space policies, Earth observation (EO) initiatives, academic and industry partnerships, and regional collaboration through the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) agenda in space science and technology application. The engagement underscored the shared commitment of both agencies to advancing space technologies that contribute to sustainable development and resilience in the region.
To provide OSTIn with a comprehensive view of the Philippines’ growing space ecosystem, the visit was conducted in key institutions handling national efforts in space science, climate action, and disaster preparedness. This composed of meteorological research facilities of the Manila Observatory (MO); the satellite mission control and ground receiving station installed at the Department of Science and Technology–Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI); the University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI), which plays a vital role in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation through science-based planning and community engagement; and the DOST–Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), showcasing its operational systems for weather monitoring and forecasting.

During the visit, both agencies reaffirmed their mutual interest in exploring collaborative opportunities in Earth observation, space industry development, and capacity building. The study visit marks an important step toward deeper bilateral cooperation, and reflects the broader goal of fostering a strong, interconnected, and innovation-driven space community in the ASEAN region.
