Space science and technology applications (SSTA) materials developed by the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), will now be accessible through the STARBOOKS platform of the Department of Science and Technology–Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII).
This collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by both agencies on 24 June 2025 in Taguig City.
STARBOOKS, or the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS, is a free digital science library developed by DOST-STII. It features a wide range of science and technology resources in multimedia formats, which can be accessed offline, making it especially valuable in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Under the agreement, PhilSA will contribute SSTA materials to the STARBOOKS collection. These initially include Si Tala at ang Kanyang Lakbay Kalawakan!; Kabatiran mula Kalawakan: The 2023 Decadal Survey of Earth Observation in the Philippines; International Space Cooperation and the Philippines: A Compendium of Speeches and Lectures Delivered during the Webinar; and the three-volume series Our Place in Space.
Through this partnership, PhilSA aims to bridge knowledge gaps by making space-related educational resources more accessible to learners and educators nationwide. By bringing curated SSTA materials directly to schools and communities, the initiative seeks to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and inspire more Filipinos, especially the youth, to take part in the growing Philippine space ecosystem.

PhilSA SSMB Director Dr. Reinabelle Reyes delivers her message during the ceremonial signing.
PhilSA Space Science Missions Bureau (SSMB) Director Reinabelle Reyes, Ph.D. recognized this milestone as a shared investment in the future of space science education in the Philippines.
“This partnership marks a significant stride in fostering national appreciation and understanding of space science. By making concepts like Earth observation, satellite technology, space cooperation, and astronomy more relatable and accessible through digital means, we hope to plant seeds of curiosity that will grow into a passion for science, research, and innovation,” Director Reyes said.
Following the agreement, PhilSA and DOST-STII will work together to promote and share SSTA, as well as space law and diplomacy, to educational institutions, local government units (LGUs), national government agencies, non-government organizations, and private institutions.
The two agencies will also collaborate on capacity-building initiatives, such as trainings and workshops aimed at promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and space technology education.
