The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 13 March 2026, affirming their commitment to advancing international cooperation for the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space. The signing took place during the ASEAN Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Space Traffic Management (STM) Workshop, highlighting the growing importance of global collaboration in ensuring the safety and long-term sustainability of the space environment.

The MOU was signed by PhilSA Ad Interim Director General Gay P. Perez and UNOOSA Director Aarti Holla-Maini. The agreement will enhance collaboration between PhilSA and UNOOSA on international space law, the use of space-based information for disaster risk reduction and emergency response in the context of UNOOSA’s UN-SPIDER activities, and other joint projects.

Through this partnership, PhilSA and UNOOSA will work together on initiatives that enhance space science and technology for socio-economic development, strengthen institutional capabilities, and promote responsible space activities, through capacity-building, public awareness, and education outreach.
