The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) officially announced the winners of its Space Policy and Law Essay Writing Contest on 09 August 2025, in celebration of Philippine Space Week.

The awarding ceremony was held during the second day of the Yamang Kalawakan Exhibit at Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall 2, Araneta City, where the authors of the winning entries were recognized for their work.

This year’s contest challenged participants to answer the thought-provoking question: “What is ‘outer space’ and how should our national laws define it?”

All entries were evaluated by the board of judges composed of Hon. Michael P. Ong, Associate Justice, Court of Appeals; Atty. Johaira C. Wahab-Manantan, Acting Director, Office of United Nations and International Organizations (UNIO) of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA); Judge Mary Rocelyn P. Lim-Guillano, Presiding Judge, Municipal Trial Courts in Cities (MTCC) Branch 2 Bacoor City, Cavite; and Atty. Noelle Riza D. Castillo, Director IV, Space Policy and International Cooperation Bureau, PhilSA.
